The First Established Brand:
The Platform Of Brand Development

As the world's leading provider of enhancement products for users of Microsoft Office. 123OfficeMedia turned to Impossible Media for help in defining, developing and creating their brand strategy and identity in order to reflect and support its diverse business areas and services.

With the launch of 123PowerPoint in 2003, 123OfficeMedia established its first brand and trademark.

The original service was created to provide premium PowerPoint Templates for users of Microsoft Office PowerPoint and presenters worldwide.

The Second Branded Service:
Expanding Service Channels

The quality of PowerPoint Templates offered by 123PowerPoint quickly saw the service channel expand and grow. With growth came the introduction of new product ranges upon the channel such as Presentation Photos.

Wishing to capitalise on market opportunities, 123OfficeMedia wanted to add a new service channel to offer Word Templates and Brochure Designs to users of Microsoft Word. However brand limitations had already been reached with 123Word.com unavailable as a domain name and so 123OfficeMedia instead opted to brand the new service 123WordTemplates.com.

Brand Hierarchy:
Expanding Service Channels

The registered owner of multiple service channels, 123OfficeMedia did not wish to market or otherwise offer product sale through the corporate brand itself.

Since intention was to establish brand identity and awareness through service portals. The lack of brand consistency and cohesion, after the introduction of only the second online service, undermined and jeopardised the actual business strategy. With further online service channels planned, a complete revision of the brand strategy and brand identity was required in order to align services and increase brand recognition.

Brand Identity Development:
Branding Consistency

In developing the brand identity for 123OfficeMedia our aim was to create consistency across the corporate and service brands and associations that would allow each brand to stand alone yet act as representative for the whole.

The first objective of the brand strategy was to evaluate existing services names, competitive use and viability. Initial consistency was achieved by renaming and standardising service brand name definitions, to allow consolidation of existing channels and potential expansion into other service areas such as the planned Excel channel.

Further definitions of font and colour use allowed the establishment of a common 123 brand definition.

Stylisations and refinement of symbolism, seen to mirror the colour definitions used to define any 123 service brand, allowed us to create a brand platform that provided 123OfficeMedia with the freedom it required to expand and implement new service channels. While in parallel, creating the framework needed to ensure brand consistency and cohesion.

New Service Channels:
Creating New Brand Images In New Service Segments

The continued expansion of 123OfficeMedia into new service areas such as Excel Spreadsheet and Dashboard design, premade and custom speech services, has extended the service channel brand range to include 123XLSX.com and 123SPEECH.com.

Through brand guidelines and brand definitions created in establishing the 123OfficeMedia brand identity. Creation of new service brands and brand assets can now be developed and implemented precisely, effectively and as an integral part of a complete, consistent and coherent brand platform.

As an online service provider, the original brand images of 123OfficeMedia and its services 123PowerPoint and 123WordTemplates were not only inconsistent with each other but were also visually illegible at low screen sizes and resolutions.

Creation of the brand strategy and identity has allowed the organisation to present each service as a coherent part of the organisational whole. This has not only helped to distinguish services within each market segment, but created a synergy between service channels that has seen traffic increase by over 500% to more than 1 million unique visitors per month.
